2021 Calendar

The PPA is proud to present the line-up of activities for the year 2021 for all its members, pastel enthusiasts and invited guests.

Message from the President

Glad we made it!

We have survived the challenges of 2020 which brought us a strong start for a new year. Despite the pandemic affecting our everyday life, and may have slowed us down, our passion for our art continued and it did not stop us from creating and engaging in pastel painting activities.

We are proud to discover that in Philippine Pastel Artists group, we have members and friends who actively support our organization and help each one to explore their skills in pastel painting. We would like to give due recognition to all our resource artists and instructors who have unselfishly shared their painting styles and techniques with us. We are grateful that we have project partners and sponsors who trust us in running the program. Special thanks go out to my fellow officers and to our Board of Directors, whose commitment to the group helped us pull through a very difficult year. Ironically, the pandemic allowed us to be more resourceful, to gain new friends, build new partnerships, and expand our network.

This year, we are inspired to continue our commitment to unify our pastel community and to bring out the best of Filipino pastel artists. The highlights of this year’s activities will be two major live exhibitions by our members. Both of which are aimed to showcase the best artworks by the members of the PPA.

We will be releasing an invite to all regular members to join the PPA Juried Exhibit for March and another Juried Exhibit in June titled: Premiera. The Premiera exhibition is a prime show of which artworks will have the chance to be awarded the ‘Best of Show’ titles. We are optimistic and excited to stage, once again, live exhibitions in some of Manila’s popular galleries. So, we urge you to begin creating your best pieces and let your artworks stand out in these shows.

To continue our learning program, we’ve lined up a series of new artists and established resource speakers for our paint along session/workshops and demonstrations. We are working to have it available online and conducted live when the situation will permit and within the government’s health and safety requirements. Expect new instructors and great artists who will join us in our sessions.

You will also have a chance to participate in our auction this year as this will be open all our members.

The 5th (2021) National Pastel competition will continue to challenge our members and all aspiring pastel artists. The competition is set to open by July and top entries will be announced and awarded at the National Pastel Convention in October. We are excited to reunite with all of you at our annual convention.

As we raise the bar in pastel painting in the Philippines, we also seek your full support and invite you to contribute and enhance the activities of PPA. We are calling for volunteers to work with us harmoniously and make our pastel community stronger. We encourage you to bring out the leader in you, share your thoughts, and be part of the team to reach our vision and mission.

If you want to become a PPA member, please visit our website and check the membership application for details. – https://philippinepastelartists.com.  We welcome those who may just have joined the PPA, and we look forward to your participation.

We wish us all an inspiring new year!

Glenn Perez
