About the Pastel Medium:
Pastel is pure pigment, the same pigment used in all art media. When properly framed, it is the most permanent of all when applied to archival ground. Pastel has no liquid binder that may cause the surface to darken, fade, yellow, crack or blister with time. No other medium has the power of color or stability of pastel. It does not oxidize with the passage of time.

Important health warning: If you have an allergy or sensitivity to dust or pigments, please consult a doctor before signing up for the session.

About the Instructor: Robert Martin Sing
Robert is experienced in using pastel, oil, and acrylic in his studio works and often chooses rural scenes, cityscapes, women, and children for his subject. He is also proficient in creating on-the-spot oil and soft pastel portraits and loves creating casein and gouache plein air studies. He is very particular in rendering details and capturing the character of his subjects.
He is currently working as a faculty member in a state university and teaches art in different workshops in Manila. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Philippine Pastel Artists, Inc.

About the instructor: Nell Belgado
A member of the Board of Trustees of the Philippine Pastel Artists, Inc., her pastel work is distinctly impressionistic and ‘painterly’ which is evident in her varied strokes and layering technique in pastel. Her landscape and seascape paintings are influenced by the tonalist style. She loves using the soft pastel as a medium because of the tangible experience when her hands work directly with pigments on paper. She has exhibited her pastel work locally and internationally with the International Association of Pastel Societies in the US.
